We are currently recruiting for a:

Overnight Awake staff

Part-Time, temporary

 

Job Summary

To be responsible for the safety of campers with special needs during the night time.  The Overnight Awake staff will provide supervision to five sleeping campers and one sleeping program staff through the night.  Providing support to campers during bed time and wake up routines may also be required.   The overnight awake staff will work from 10pm-7am on Monday-Thursday evenings supporting the KOC in delivering 8 weeks of Summer Camp programming during the months of July and August.  Some additional overnight awake shifts during spring and fall maybe available depending on group needs. 

Responsibilities

  • Be in the cabin and provide night time supervision of campers during the hours of 10pm-7am. 
  • Know and understand ALL emergency procedures associated with KOC program.
  • Document and communicate any incidents
  • Prepare communications that are shared with the day staff (overnight logs)
  • Perform regular checks to ensure campers are still in their bedrooms and monitor their whereabouts.
  • Wake KOC program staff should an incident require additional support
  • Ensure that all KOC rules, procedures and directives are understood and adhered to in full.
  • Liaise closely with Centre Manager with regards to any behavioural or safety concerns.
  • Produce reports as instructed by Head Office.

 

Qualifications and experience

  • Experience of working in a team and working with children and youth.  Experience working with children on the autism spectrum is an asset. 
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check (including a Vulnerable Sector Screening) and Pre-Employment Medical.
  • Experience working overnight in similar field, an asset
  • Post-secondary education in developmental services field or similar, an asset
  • Standard First aid and CPR level C must be obtained by start date.
  • Dependable and responsible
  • Works well in a team and independently
  • Candidates Bilingual in English and French will be given special consideration.
