We currently have an opportunity for a:

Program Registered Nurse

Simcoe Program

Regular, Part Time – 3 Days/week

Pay Scale: $36.73-$38.59-$40.48





As the Program Nurse, you will facilitate professional nursing practices that support the delivery of client centered care within the Simcoe Program.  You will directly oversee medications for all youth residing in the residential programs. Liaise with local pharmacies, families, prescribing physician/psychiatrist and staff to ensure correct dosage and distribution of medications. Ensure all changes to prescriptions are documented and adhered to. Actively monitor response to prescribed psychiatric medications. Monitor for side effects of prescribed psychiatric medications through direct contact with staff and via observing youth in the residential programs when needed. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the systematic collection of laboratory, vital signs, EKGs, height and weight checks, etc. for those youth with medications which recommend this as standard practice
  • Organize psychiatry consultations and attend consultations when possible in order to provide nursing follow up.
  • Support youth who are prescribed antipsychotic medication with information and strategies for healthy eating and ways to maintain a lower weight. 
  • Provide educative information about identified mental health problems and related physical health information when identified as a need for youth and families.
  • As a key member of the interdisciplinary team you will contribute to client treatment planning and potentially delivery of treatment
  • Provide regular education about sexuality, exercise, and proper eating and provide support to CYW’s/staff and families in addressing these issues with youth when requested..



  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Membership with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Specialty in mental health, knowledge of adolescent health and excellent clinical nursing skills with two-five years of relevant experience.
  • You will have proven facilitation skills, excellent communication and demonstrated interpersonal skills.
  • You will also have proven experience in the application of regulatory requirements/professional standards of practice as well as related legislation.
  • The successful candidate access to a vehicle will require a valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • French language skills considered to be an asset.
