We currently have an opportunity for a: 

  IT Help Desk Intern/Co-op

Information Technology Department

  Temporary, Full-Time – 35 hours/Week - $15.00 per hour

Duration: 4 or 8 month terms

 Start Date: January 8th, 2018

Job Summary:  

The Information Technology Department at Kinark has a paid helpdesk internship position available to a full-time student or recent graduate who is either actively pursuing a college or university degree or has recently received a degree in Computer Science. Areas of focus include, but are not limited to end user software application and hardware support, Windows administrative functions, project coordination, asset management, and presentations.


Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Assist the IT Department with upcoming projects and initiatives 
  • Participate in supporting and improving the organization’s intranet  
  • Create step-by-step training presentations to train staff members on new technologies 
  • Design a wide range of high-quality digital collateral including PowerPoints, graphics, event materials, presentations, communications plans, public service announcements, and other branding identity materials — from concept to production 
  • Perform other related duties 
  • Assist IT Management with coordinating and managing initiatives and projects
  • Supporting end users with software including desktops, laptops, web based applications, printers, OS, and copiers
  • Creating and resolving tickets at the helpdesk
  • Working with partnered ISPs to complete tasks
  • Conduct technical data analysis
  • Create and manage group software testing
  • Manage IT supplied assets

  • Possessing or having achieved a minimum 3.0 GPA is considered an asset
  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills applicable to CSR
  • Detail-oriented with superior analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Quick learner who is adept to change and multi-tasking 
  • Self-starter who succeeds in a collaborative, team environment
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Office365, OneDrive, Outlook, Word, and Excel) as well as windows server
  • Familiarity with technologies such as Network Architecture, Windows Administration, VOIP, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, Database Design and ITIL
  • Knowledge of network infrastructure consisting of LAN, WAN equipment and wireless infrastructure.  
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check (including a Vulnerable Sector Screening) and Pre-Employment Medical
  • Bilingualism (English and French) considered an asset
