Financial Analyst – CYMH East Program

Contract 9 months – 35 hours

Program Office Locations: Coburg, Peterborough & Whitby

                                                                    Start Date: July 2, 2019

 

SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Reporting to Finance Manager, Child & Youth Mental Health – Financial Analyst is responsible for:

  • Supporting month-end, quarter-end and year-end reporting and analysis.
  • Budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis for management planning and Ministry reporting.
  • Coordinating input into financial planning and Ministry reporting system and work with management to validate accuracy and reasonableness of data
  • Evaluating financial and operational performance by comparing and analyzing actual results with plans and forecasts
  • Conducting regular meetings in analyzing performance against service unit metrics
  • Increasing productivity by developing automated reporting /forecasting tools
  • Guiding cost analysis process by establishing and enforcing policies and procedures
  • Understands not-for-profit accounting rules and ministry reporting requirements & practices
  • Reviews invoices and authorize payments, accounts payable and receivables for programs
  • Provides oversight and reporting for program area contracts
  • Provides financial support for other project and initiatives through completion of ad hoc analysis and reports

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced skills with MS Excel, Office 365, OneNote required and experience with accounting software (Great Plains) would be an asset
  • Strong Analytical and inquiry skills to understand operational processes
  • Knowledge and understanding of financial controls, not-for-profit accounting and ministry reporting standards
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with superior analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Degree or diploma in finance , accounting or related field
  • 3 + years’   work experience
  • Holds a valid Ontario driver’s license, and own vehicle required
