We currently have an opportunity for a:

Finance Manager – Program Finance

Regular Full-Time – 35 hours

Location: Corporate Head Office Markham /Program Office Oakville

                                                                   Start Date: July 2, 2019

 

SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Reporting to Sr. Manager – Financial Planning and Reporting, the Finance Manager – Program Finance is responsible for:

  • Supporting the development of annual and monthly operational plans for programs
  • Prepares reports and analyzes variances, identifying risks and progress versus plans and making corrective action recommendations
  • Plans and analyzes performance against service unit metrics
  • Understands not-for-profit accounting rules and ministry reporting requirements & practices
  • Reviews invoices and authorize payments, accounts payable and receivables for programs
  • Oversees and controls program inventory and authorizes procurement of operating supplies, equipment and services for the program
  • Preparation of grant applications/studies as needed
  • Provides oversight and reporting for program area contracts
  • Financial statement reporting for program director, management and the ministry
  • Service activity reporting with community partner agencies (as required)
  • Provides financial support for other project and initiatives through completion of ad hoc analysis and reports

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced skills with MS Excel, Office 365, OneNote required and experience with accounting software (Great Plains) would be an asset
  • Knowledge and understanding of financial controls, not-for-profit accounting and ministry reporting standards
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with superior analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Canadian professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CGA, CMA) preferred
  • Diploma in accounting/finance required; University degree required.
  • 5-10 years’ supervisory or managerial experience
  • Holds a valid Ontario driver’s license, and own vehicle required
  • Time allocation: 60% at program office , 40% at head office
