We currently have an opportunity for a:

Human Resources Associate

Temporary, Full-Time Contract - 35 Hours Per Week (Approximate One Year Contract)

Head Office - Markham, ON

 

Job Summary:

Reporting to the HR Manager, Administration, the HR Associate position specializes in the administration and maintenance of HR information and responds to employee inquiries regarding a variety of HR matters.  As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for the following:

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Create and run various scheduled and ad hoc reports
  • Assist program areas with residential licensing requirements
  • Benefits and pension administration  including: new member set up, member updates, member terminations, and overall maintenance through the HRIS data base and benefit provider data base
  • Data entry for various HR responsibilities (training, certifications, etc.)
  • Coordinate and manage internal trainings
  • Responding in a timely and professional manner to a high volume of inquiries from employees and Managers regarding a variety of HR related matters
  • Accurate pay processing for all employees in areas such as: pay rates, job data information, benefit changes, all personal and leave of absence information
  • Assisting with the monthly Head Office On-boarding sessions (coordinating and facilitating each monthly session)
  • Maintaining current information on the Time and Attendance System, including creating schedules, changing costing information, updating/adjusting accruals and running various reports
  • Establishing and maintaining employee personnel files in accordance with both legislated requirements and Agency standards
  • Partnering with the Payroll Department in the production of the bi-weekly payroll process
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of Post-Secondary education in Human Resources, or a related field
  • 1-2 years of HR experience, preferably in a not-for-profit environment
  • Excellent computer skills, including working knowledge of HRIS and timekeeping software is required
  • Strong attention to detail for pay processing and data entry is required
  • Intermediate Excel knowledge is a must.  Advanced Excel knowledge considered an asset
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) are required.  Experience facilitating/presenting in front of large groups an asset!
  • Proven commitment to customer service is required
  • Strong organizational and time management skills are required
  • The ability to multi-task and prioritize on a day-to-day basis, and to work well both independently and in a team environment
  • Travel may be required; the successful incumbent must have a valid Ontario driver's license, access to a reliable vehicle and automobile insurance with a minimum liability coverage of one million dollars
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check (including a Vulnerable Sector Screening) and Pre-Employment Medical are required
  • Candidates bilingual in English and French will be given special consideration
