We currently have several opportunities for a:

Autism Spectrum Disorder –School Support Program (ASD-SSP) Consultants

School Support Program – 1 x York/Simcoe and 1 x Durham/Four Counties Regions

2 x Temporary, Full-Time – 35 hours*week (until March 31, 2018)

 

*Please note that the successful incumbent may be required to work evenings and weekends.

 

Job Summary:

The ASD-SSP Consultants will partner with School Boards in supporting teachers and school personnel in the provision of programming for students with a diagnosis of an ASD.  The successful incumbents will be assigned to work with the various school boards either in York/Simcoe region or Durham/Four Counties region.

 

Duties & Responsibilities (not limited to):

  • Provide expert clinical and consultative support to school transition teams and families for children transitioning from Intensive Behavioural Intervention (IBI) into school as part of the Connections for Students initiative.
  • Act as a resource to the school board for best practices.
  • Consult in the development of effective evidence based practices for students with ASD in the educational environment.
  • Develop resource materials and provide training opportunities to educators supporting students with ASD.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA).
  • Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) certification is considered an asset.
  • Minimum  three  years experience in the field of ABA and Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Experience with school based transitions will be considered a strong asset. 
  • Experience in the delivery of consultation services and special education policies and procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, good problem solving skills, and the ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Excellent computer (MS Office) and presentation skills
  • Travel is required for this position; the successful candidate must have a valid Ontario driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle and be willing to obtain automobile insurance which includes driving for business purposes with a minimum liability of one million dollars.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check (including a Vulnerable Sector Screening) and Pre-Employment Medical. 
  • Candidates Bilingual in English and French will be given special consideration.
